Creating Your Future

Creating Your Future
(creating YOU)

a visualization exercise

This is not a think positive and it will happen exercise. Whereas that may happen too, this exercise seeks to find out what is important and meaningful to you.

This “Creating Your Future” exercise is part of an overall plan called “Creating Yourself” which is a practice that helps you determine who you want to be and then guides you in doing what you need to do to become that.

The Creating Your Future exercise helps by looking at who you ideally want to be and what kind of life you ideally want to have.

In this exercise you are to dream big, let your imagination and creativity run wild. Don't limit your imagination. Allow yourself to dream of the best possible future, without any constraints or negativity.

If negativity shows up, thank the negativity and ask it to take a break right now. Let it know this is just an exercise and you are instructed to not hold back.

Read these instructions all the way through once, then follow the instructions.

Find a quiet space where you can feel comfortable and you won’t be disturbed. Close your eyes and take a few deep relaxing breaths and then allow your future to materialize in your imagination. See below for instructions.

Visualize your future:

Imagine yourself five or ten years into the future. Imagine you are sitting in that future right now, on this very date 5 or 10 years in the future. However you would feel in this ideal future, see if you can feel it now as if you are there.

Really notice how you feel in that ideal future. Then notice where you are, who is in your life, what is in your life, what you have accomplished, what you have done or are doing in your life. Dive deeper into your imagination and get some more details of what it looks like.

Some things to consider:

Dream Big: Don't limit your imagination. Allow yourself to dream of the best possible future, without any constraints or negativity.

Remember: This exercise is about visualizing your ideal future. Let your mind wander freely, and don't be afraid to dream big.
